I have a serious thrift shopping problem. I can’t walk by an op shop without having a sticky beak and have spent way too many hours trawling the many pre-loved corners of the Internet. As well as a sizable vintage T-shirt collection, my experience has left me with a pretty vast knowledge of the best places to pick up quality vintage fashion online.
So I thought I’d use my shopping powers for the greater good with this round-up of the absolute best online stores to shop second-hand clothes, accessories and shoes online. Get in loser, we’re going op shopping.
This article was created in partnership with our pals at eBay. With 13 pieces of women’s fashion sold every minute on eBay, you’ll be in good company. Tap into Australia’s largest marketplace today.
💸 Price point: $-$$$
🛍 Good for: Pre-loved fashion, sunglasses, handbags and sneakers
I could literally spend hours scrolling the dedicated “Vintage Clothing & Accessories” section of eBay. Unlike some other vintage stores, eBay doesn’t stick to one niche, meaning you can shop everything from 1960s glomesh bags to the perfect pair of Levi’s in one place. Because of the sheer volume of listings, you can usually pick up goodies at a more competitive price on eBay.
My fave part is that you can filter the results by decade as well as by item. You can even search by aesthetic from “grunge” to “Victorian/Edwardian”. This makes it really easy to narrow down your search if you have your heart set on a particular item.

🛍 Good for: Graphic T-shirts and sweatshirts
I have a crippling vintage T-shirt collection and one of my favourite enablers is Official Vintage. The bricks-and-mortar digs are located in Melbourne but they also have a fully stocked online store. They specialise in graphic T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats, including US colleges and sports merch to Harley Davidson and Hard Rock Cafe to Looney Tunes and Disney.
The shirts generally range between $65 and $100, with some rare prints going for around $250. Official Vintage Clothing is my go-to for Harley Davidson tees and crewnecks featuring rare designs that don’t require you to sell a major organ to afford.

🛍 Good for: Vintage designer labels
I have stumbled across so many incredible vintage sellers that I probably never would’ve found through ASOS Marketplace. This is because it plays host to 900+ small businesses including independent brands and vintage sellers from over 50 countries.
The listings on ASOS Marketplace often reflect the current trends, so I’ve found that it’s a more sustainable way to shop the latest lewks.

🛍 Good for: Pre-loved, upcycled and vintage clothes and accessories
The fashion marketplace app Depop is another goldmine for second-hand goodies. As well as pre-loved modern fashuns, you can also filter by “vintage” finds. As well as established online boutiques, Depop is home to lots of individuals selling their old threads. This means you can generally thrift items for a helluva lot cheaper than you would elsewhere.

🛍 Good for: Denim, dresses, shoes
If you’re also addicted to browsing the listings on Facebook Marketplace, welcome home. Similar to eBay and Depop, there are loads of individual sellers offloading their pre-loved fashions on Facebook Marketplace. Again, that means you can usually pick up some pretty solid bargains if you look hard enough.

🛍 Good for: Costume jewellery, vintage clothes and handmade pieces
Etsy is an online marketplace that’s well known for its massive selection of handmade trinkets, Pinterest-worthy homewares and, of course, vintage fashion. Whether you’re a serious vintage shopper on the hunt for a rare treasure or shopping on a budget, Etsy caters for you no matter what your budget or wishlist. I personally love using Etsy to source on-trend and good quality pieces for a more modest price tag. To rattle off a few examples, I’ve picked up a 100% wool blazer and genuine leather blazer for less than $100 on Etsy in my time. Bloody bargain.

🛍 Good for: Designer label handbags, shoes and clothes
If you have your heart set on designer and brand-name vintage pieces, head on over to The RealReal. It’s an authenticated consignment and resale marketplace that’s an incredible spot to pick up legit designer goods without getting ripped off or duped. We’re talking luxe labels from Gucci, Chanel and Christian Dior to more affordable brands like Levi’s and Nike.

Arcade Vintage Boutique is like cottagecore meets bohemian dream come true. The Australia-based store curates one-off vintage pieces, specialising in items from the 60s and 70s. You can expect to find silk slip dresses, chiffon and crochet blouses and show-stopping coats. It also has a heavenly bridal section if wedding bells are in your future. It’s a little pricier than some of the other options in this list, but these are investment pieces that’ll live in your closet forever. They regularly do sales as well, so it’s worth chucking them a follow on Instagram so you don’t miss out.
